CEREC® Same Day Crowns

Today’s advances in technology are impacting cosmetic dentistry in many ways. One of these breakthrough innovations is called CEREC. It allows us to restore damaged teeth with natural-colored ceramic fillings in one visit, saving you time and inconvenience. 

Both Dr. Steve and Scott Martinka are trained to use the CEREC restoration system. The CEREC CAD/CAM system enables patients to receive a custom fitting tooth in a little over an hour. You no longer need to have messy impressions, and a temporary for two weeks while a lab makes your final crown.  Your teeth can now be restored to virtually their original form and function in the same day.
 
CEREC uses CAD/CAM technology, incorporating a camera, computer and milling machine in one instrument. The operator uses a special camera to take an accurate picture of the damaged tooth. This optical impression is transferred and displayed on a computer screen, where CAD (Computer Aided Design) technology is used to design the restoration. Then CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) takes over and mills the restoration from a block of porcelain while you wait. Finally, Dr. Martinka bonds the new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The whole process takes only about one hour!
